Thought for the day

Dear friends,

As I mentioned yesterday I am currently reading a book by a Puritan called John Flavel. This morning I have been really encouraged and challenged reading his thoughts on wealth & poverty, suffering and comfort.

He wonderfully echoes the biblical teaching of how the Lord uses trials to keep us in the faith and help us grow. Here are a couple of quotes:

“Oh how many have been wheeled to hell in the chariots of earthly pleasures, while others have been whipped to heaven by the rod of affliction!”

“Outward gains (in lifestyle) are ordinarily accompanied by inward losses”

Be encouraged this week that your life is in the hands of an all knowing, and intensely loving God. Nothing is without purpose, and He really does care about every detail of our lives, and the effect it has on us.

In His grip,

Trevor
